Dressing myself in a simple tank top and jeans, I stood before the mirror, staring at my reflection. The faint bruise on my forehead was still visible, but it was the wound on my shoulder that held my attention– the deep, angry mark that refused to fade.
It throbbed faintly, the doctor said it would take time to heal.
She visits me every day, checking the stitches, her voice always calm, always kind.
Exhaling slowly, I tied my hair into a ponytail and reached for the ointment in the drawer.
